Junk

Go Back

A junk is a large sailing ship often found in eastern waters. It has a flat bottom, no keel, and a high stern, with two masts and a sail reinforced with bamboo ribs. The junk’s hull is partitioned into a number of small, watertight compartments, which makes it unusually seaworthy.
A junk is an ancient Guojia sailing vessel/ship design still in use today (4th century G.C). Junks were developed during the Song Dynasty (1129-960 G.D) and were used as seagoing vessels as early as the 2nd century G.D. They evolved in the later dynasties, and were used throughout Kiyashe for extensive ocean voyages. They were found, and in lesser numbers are still found, throughout Eastern Kiyashe and Baghvana, but primarily in Guojia, perhaps most famously in Hong Kong.
